If you don’t have Movie Magic Budgeting, you can begin creating your budget using my Indie Budget Template.
In this budget template, you have different categories related to the various stages of your film production: Development, Pre-production, Production, and Post-production. Each category includes specific line items for different expenses you may encounter during that stage.
The “Estimated Cost” column is where you can input your initial budget estimates for each item. The “Actual Cost” column is for recording the actual expenses incurred. The “Notes” column allows you to add any additional information or details regarding each item.
The “Contingency” row is where you can allocate a percentage or fixed amount of your budget as a contingency fund to account for unexpected expenses. The “Total Budget” row represents the sum of all the estimated costs and can be calculated automatically.
TIP: Keep in mind that you may have regional tax credits available to offset labor costs.
Feel free to modify the template to suit your specific budgeting needs, adding or removing categories or line items as necessary.
