Being at ground zero in a production company for the past several months has been both fascinating and eye-opening. The film and TV industry is in flux—whether we’re witnessing its death throes or growing pains remains to be seen.
But one thing’s for sure: creators are gonna create!
I’m throwing myself headfirst into an ambitious creative journey, and I thought you might like to tag along for the ride.
So, What’s the Plan?
For the past two years, I’ve been developing a number of series ideas. Recently, I took a deep dive into market analysis to figure out where these projects might land. Now, I have six series lined up that I want to bring to life—starting small, with micro episodes.
Here’s the catch: I have a shoestring budget (or, more accurately, no budget). What I do have are some basic equipment, a handful of tools, and access to AI technology.
So, what’s a broke, independent creator to do?
My Next Steps
I’m facing a steep learning curve head-on. My plan is to test the newest tech and tools available to me, work within a less-than-micro budget, and share every win, misstep, and lesson learned along the way.
First stop? Unreal Engine 5.5.
I dabbled in Unreal Engine 5 last year during the industry strikes, but this time I’m diving in deep. The goal is to leverage its capabilities for virtual production and explore how far I can push this technology as a solo creator.
Stay tuned for my next entry—I’ll let you know how it’s going, whether I’m soaring or face-planting.
Because in this industry, the only real failure is not trying.
